Representing his country at a World Triathlon event is a source of pride for Azerbaijani referee Balaheydar Karimov.
The experienced official shared his thoughts with Report news agency on the matter, Idman.biz reports.
He spoke about gaining his first international experience by officiating at the European Cup for youth held on August 9–10 in Izvorani, Romania: "This is a very proud feeling for me. Moreover, being the first person from my country to take this step brings both responsibility and great excitement. Evaluating every moment of the race, communicating with unfamiliar referees, and working together as a team to manage the event is a very valuable experience. I am grateful to the Azerbaijan Triathlon Federation for providing this opportunity and their support."
Karimov also spoke about his next goals as a justice representative: "My current target is the European Cup in Malta. I have already submitted my candidacy and am continuing my preparations for it."
The coach of Azerbaijan’s youth national team also commented on the squad: "Our future plans are not limited to achieving results in competitions. Our main goal is to increase the international experience of our athletes and give them the opportunity to test themselves in a more competitive environment. I am pleased with our performance in Romania, especially Ali Rzazade’s performance. Now we are focusing on the European Youth Championships in Austria in September and the European Cup in Malta. Both competitions will be a significant step for us in terms of testing and development."
