Traffic restrictions to be imposed in Baku for IRONMAN 70.3

Temporary traffic restrictions will be introduced on several streets and avenues in Baku due to the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku international triathlon.

As reported by İdman.Biz, the restrictions will be introduced gradually from 21:00 on September 4 and will remain in effect until 16:00 on September 5.

Starting from the junction near the Heydar Aliyev Baku Deep Water Jackets Plant at the 25th kilometre of the Baku-Alat-Gazakh-Georgia border highway (M2), one lane will be allocated to vehicles travelling from the opposite direction in order to maintain traffic flow.

In addition, one lane towards the Lokbatan Circle will remain available for general traffic.

Traffic restrictions will also be imposed on the Baku-Alat highway (M3), starting from the 14th kilometre in the direction of the Lokbatan Circle and continuing towards the city centre as far as the roundabout in front of the Sheraton Baku Intourist hotel.

Drivers will be able to use the Lokbatan-Bayil direction of the Baku-Alat highway (M3) as an alternative route.

During the pre-race preparation period, the restrictions will be in force from 21:00 on September 4 until 04:59 on September 5. During the main stage of the competition, they will apply from 05:00 until 14:30.

After the race, restrictions are expected to remain in place from 14:30 until 16:00 on September 5 to allow cleaning and restoration work to be carried out in the affected areas.

Drivers and other road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance, take possible congestion into account and use alternative routes where necessary.

The Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku will take place in the Azerbaijani capital on September 5, with more than 1,500 athletes from 62 countries expected to participate.
