The body found off the coast of the US state of California has been officially identified as that of triathlete Erika Fox, who had been reported missing on December 21.
According to Idman.Biz, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office released a statement confirming the discovery and noted that the body was found very close to the area where Fox was last seen.
The official statement added that at the time of her disappearance, there had been speculation that Erika Fox may have fallen victim to a shark attack.
The identity of the deceased was later confirmed by her father, bringing several days of search efforts to an end.
