Teen sensation Victoria Mboko reaches Canadian Open final to face Naomi Osaka

Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko has booked a sensational spot in her first WTA 1000 final at the Canadian Open, where she’ll face four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka.

Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that the 18-year-old, ranked 85th in the world, pulled off a stunning 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) comeback win over former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in Montreal.

Mboko saved a match point in the second set before turning the match around in front of an ecstatic home crowd. “Without you guys, I don't think I would've been able to pull this through,” she told fans after the match.

The wildcard has already defeated top names like Coco Gauff and Sofia Kenin en route to the final. Starting 2025 ranked 333rd, she began the season with a 22-match winning streak and is now set to break into the world’s top 50.

She will now face former world No.1 Naomi Osaka, who advanced with a 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) victory over Clara Tauson.
