In Ancient Olympia, Greece, the Olympic flame for the 2026 Winter Games in Italy was lit.

Idman.Biz reports that the traditional ceremony was attended by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry, Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas, and IOC Honorary President Thomas Bach.
Due to bad weather, the ceremony was moved from the ancient stadium to the Archaeological Museum, and a backup flame — which had ignited during the general rehearsal — was used, reports Inside the Games. The flame will arrive in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, on January 26, exactly 70 years after the opening ceremony of the 1956 Games held at the same location.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will take place from February 6 to 22. Russian athletes are allowed to participate under a neutral status and in a limited number.
