Alimurad Haji-zade: “My main goal was to prove myself”

“I gave it my all, even though my competitors were very strong,” said Azerbaijani rower Alimurad Haji-zade in a statement to Idman.biz.

Idman.biz reports that he was reflecting on his performance at the 38th International Bratislava Regatta for juniors and youth in kayaking and canoeing, held in Slovakia. Haji-zade expressed satisfaction with the result:

“Kayak rowing demands speed, strength, and technique. You especially need to stay focused in the 200-meter sprint. The Bratislava Regatta was a very important competition for me. I finished second in the 200-meter race. My main goal in participating was to prove myself and gain international experience.”

The 16-year-old athlete also shared his ambitions for the future:

“This competition served as both motivation and a valuable lesson. I want to keep improving and achieve better results in major tournaments. The upcoming Olympic Hopes Regatta and the CIS Games are both very important to me. That’s why I’m trying to be as disciplined as possible in training. I hope to proudly represent my team in the next events.”

The Bratislava Regatta brought together athletes from over 20 countries.
