The second day of competition at the Mingachevir Regatta 2026 international tournament gets underway today.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Azerbaijani athletes claimed four medals on the opening day of the competition in Fuzuli - one gold, one silver and two bronze.
In the boys' 2008-2009 age group, Alimurad Hajizade won gold in the K1 200m event, while his compatriot Nuran Rahimli took silver.
Azerbaijan's two bronze medals were claimed by Huseyn Samadli and Elmir Tarverdiyev. Samadli finished third in the C1 200m event among athletes born in 2008-2009, while Tarverdiyev took bronze in the K1 200m competition for the 2010-2011 age group.
The competition will continue today and tomorrow at the Kur Olympic Training and Sports Centre in Mingachevir, where races across all disciplines and distances will be held.
More than 100 young rowers are taking part in the international tournament. Alongside Azerbaijan, the competition features athletes from the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
