“Our athletes’ results so far can be considered satisfactory,” said Mirnazim Javadov, senior coach of the Azerbaijani national rowing team (kayak discipline), during the International President Cup 2025 Regatta dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth.
Idman.biz reports that speaking to journalists, Javadov assessed the team’s performance: “We prepared well for the competition. As a result, our athletes won three bronze medals on the first day. Today, we added one silver and one bronze to our tally. We had predicted good results. We are expecting a gold medal today from Alimurad Hajiyev, who will try to outperform his rivals in the 1000-meter race.”
The head coach also highlighted the team’s future goals: “We want to continue our success on the international stage. The results at the President Cup 2025 are important for us. We aim to further strengthen our team at this regatta and get ready for the upcoming European and World Championships.”
For the record, Azerbaijani athletes have won one silver and four bronze medals over the first two days of the competition, which will conclude on May 2.
