The Minister's Point of View: "Thanks to the victory news, we felt spring breath in sports"

"Nature, which wakes up with the arrival of summer, transmits its positive energy to our sports. Thanks to the victory news from the first days of March, accompanied by the Sports Week, the breath of spring was also felt in sports."

Idman.biz reports that this was said by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, while evaluating March.

He said in the President's Note that the traditional meeting with Azerbaijani athletes and their coaches, who successfully represented Azerbaijan in prestigious international competitions, was full of pleasant impressions: "With Azerbaijani athletes and their coaches who successfully represented our country in Continental and World Championships, in prestigious international competitions. Our traditional meeting was full of good impressions this time. We learned to the impressions of our athletes who were successful in weightlifting, rhythmic gymnastics, men's gymnastics, tumbling, MMA, judo, shot put, stand shooting, sumo, karate, para-athletics, parajudo, parataekwondo, savate and pro combat, taekwondo, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling and women's wrestling about the competitions they participated in and the victories they won, and we discussed their preparations for future competitions with the coaches of the national teams."

The minister also expressed his views on the meeting with the wrestlers and coaching staff who achieved high results in the European Championship: " We met with the wrestlers and coaching staff who achieved high results in the European Championship, as well as students-wrestlers studying at the Gymnasium of Foreign Languages together with the president of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev. At present, about 50 teenage wrestlers from different regions of the country are studying at the Gymnasium of Foreign Languages. Schoolchildren who are provided with food and accommodation are also involved in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling training in the complex's gym. This will be an additional impetus for the development of wrestling."

Farid Gayibov commented on the licenses won for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games in March: "In March, our athletes won two more licenses. First, our boxer Nijat Huseynov (51 kg) won Olympian status by defeating Roscoe Hill (USA) in the quarter-finals of the 1st World Olympic Qualifying Tournament held in Busto Arsizio, Italy. Then Seljan Mahsudova, a member of our national trampoline gymnastics team, achieved it. It is gratifying that this is the first license won in trampoline in the history of Azerbaijani gymnastics."

The Minister mentioned that the Sports Week, which started on February 28 concerning March 5 - Day of Physical Education and Sports, ended with a sports parade in Guba on March 5: "We held more than a hundred different events. Thanks to these events, sports in our country became the focus of special attention during the week. I thank everyone who was active in the Sports Week.
One of the significant events was the selection of Sports Ambassadors for 2024. After hearing the presentation and program of each candidate before the vote at the extraordinary Collegium meeting of the Ministry, 5 sports ambassadors were elected. I congratulate them and wish them success in their activities for the promotion of sports throughout the country, including in the regions."

He also touched on the prospects of international relations in the field of sports: "With Mindaugas Spokas, the director of the National Sports Agency of the Republic of Lithuania, Givi Mikanadze, the chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs of the Georgian Parliament, Kayrat Osmanaliyev, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan, as well as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Morocco in Azerbaijan "During the meetings with Ambassador Mohammad Adil Embarsh, we discussed the future prospects of cooperation in sports."

The Minister also emphasized that the next meeting with the heads of regional youth and sports departments, directors of Olympic Sports Complexes, Youth Houses and heads of children's and youth sports schools will take place this time in Guba, the Sports Capital of our country for 2024. we discussed the work done and the issues of future activities. We had another meeting with the representatives of sports federations in the Sports Capital. At the 13th meeting organized at the Guba Olympic Sports Complex, we talked with the federation representatives and experts about the recent work and the tasks ahead. We listened to their opinions and suggestions and discussed current issues together."

He also expressed his views on the extraordinary general meeting of the Azerbaijan Rugby Federation and Azerbaijan's next gymnastics World Cup: "The process of optimizing the activity of federations is also ongoing. This time, an extraordinary general meeting of the Azerbaijan Rugby Federation was held and Royal Suleymanov was elected as the president of the federation. I believe that, although it is not traditional for our country, we will be able to witness a revival in this sport in the coming years.
Our country, which is the place of international competitions almost every month, successfully hosted the World Gymnastics Cup for the next time. I should note that our country traditionally hosts 3 World Gymnastics Cups every year, and these competitions play an important role in the development of gymnastics in Azerbaijan.
