Azerbaijani athlete Nazim Shafi, who lives in the United States, has successfully competed in two prestigious tournaments organized by the world’s largest amateur bodybuilding federation, the National Physique Committee (NPC), Idman.Biz reports.
Nazim moved with his family to the UK during his school years and worked for a long time as a producer at the BBC Russian Service. In 2020, he relocated to the US, where he currently studies at the National Sports and Medical Academy.
His first major achievement came at the NPC New York State Grand Prix 2025, where he won gold in the Masters 40+ category and silver in Masters 35+. He then participated in the NPC East Coast Cup 2025 in Connecticut, earning two silver medals in both categories.
In an interview, Nazim revealed that he initially started training in the gym to lose weight, but as he saw results, he became more serious about bodybuilding: “In just nine months, I achieved significant changes for myself.”
Thus, in a short period, Nazim Shafi has emerged as one of the most promising amateur bodybuilders in the United States.
