Matchday 11 of Italy's Serie A has kicked off and will conclude on November 8, marking the final round before the international break.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Lazio remain the outright leaders with an impressive 28 points from a possible 30. Inter follow with 25 points, ahead of Roma (24) and surprise package Como (23). Milan complete the top five with 21 points, while traditional powerhouses Juventus (17) and Napoli (14) currently sit outside the top six.
The battle at the bottom is equally intense. Fiorentina have unexpectedly slipped to 16th place with just eight points, while Monza, Venezia and Udinese face an even more difficult situation.
The round has already produced an important result in the relegation battle, with Venezia defeating Udinese 2-1 to climb off the bottom and send their opponents into last place.
Napoli vs Lazio
One of the standout fixtures of the weekend takes place in Naples, where the hosts will attempt to halt the league leaders' remarkable run of form.
Under Gennaro Gattuso, Lazio have won nine of their opening ten matches, with their only dropped points coming in a 2-2 draw against Milan. In the previous round, the Rome-based side demonstrated their resilience by defeating Cagliari 2-1, thanks to Andrea Pinamonti's decisive goal in the 83rd minute.
Napoli, meanwhile, find themselves in a completely different situation. Massimiliano Allegri's team occupy eighth place, already 14 points behind the leaders.
The Neapolitans suffered a 2-0 defeat to Juventus in their previous league outing before enduring a heavy 4-1 loss to Porto in the Champions League.
Injuries have further complicated their preparations. Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Stanislav Lobotka, Alessandro Buongiorno and several other players remain unavailable, while Luca Marianucci will miss the match through suspension.
Lazio also have injury concerns. Their most significant absence is captain Mattia Zaccagni, who has suffered a thigh injury, while Nuno Tavares remains doubtful.
An additional storyline involves the two managers. Gattuso previously played under Allegri at Milan and will now face his former coach from the opposite dugout. Interestingly, Allegri has won all five of their previous managerial encounters.
Given their current form, Lazio enter the match as slight favourites. However, Napoli's home advantage and determination to make amends for recent disappointments could make them dangerous opponents.
For the visitors, this encounter represents a major examination of their title credentials.
Inter vs Como
Another highly anticipated encounter will take place in Milan, where second-placed Inter host the biggest surprise of the Serie A season.
Only two points separate the teams, meaning victory for Como would see them overtake one of the leading contenders for the Scudetto.
Cesc Fabregas' side approach the match in extraordinary spirits following their remarkable Champions League performance on November 4.
Como produced a stunning display in France, thrashing Lens 9-1 away from home. Anastasios Douvikas scored a hat-trick as the Italian club recorded one of the most remarkable results of the European season, equalling the Champions League record for the largest winning margin in a single match.
Their domestic form has been equally impressive. Como have won their last four Serie A matches, including a 1-0 victory over Venezia in the previous round.
After ten matches, Fabregas' team have collected 23 points while conceding just eight goals, the best defensive record in the league.
Inter, by contrast, recently suffered a painful 3-1 defeat to Milan in the city derby. However, Cristian Chivu's side quickly restored confidence with a convincing 3-0 away victory over Feyenoord in the Champions League.
The absence of injured captain Lautaro Martinez nevertheless limits Inter's attacking options.
The tactical battle promises to be particularly fascinating, with Inter's attacking approach coming up against Como's fluid, possession-based football.
The Nerazzurri have scored 26 goals in ten league matches and won all five of their home fixtures this season.
Inter remain slight favourites thanks to their experience and the advantage of playing at San Siro. Nevertheless, given Como's outstanding form and extraordinary European goalscoring display, another upset cannot be ruled out.
Fiorentina vs Juventus
The round concludes with one of Italian football's fiercest rivalries, although both teams enter the encounter in unfamiliar positions.
Juventus sit seventh in the standings, while Fiorentina are just one point above the relegation zone.
The Florence-based club have endured a disappointing start to the campaign. Paolo Vanoli's side have managed only two victories in ten matches, suffering six defeats.
Their defensive record has been particularly concerning, with 23 goals conceded, one of the worst figures in Serie A.
However, Fiorentina showed signs of recovery in the previous round, securing an impressive 4-2 away victory over Sassuolo despite twice falling behind.
That comeback should provide a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the meeting with their historic rivals.
Juventus have also struggled for consistency. The Turin giants have collected 17 points and already trail leaders Lazio by 11.
Recent performances, however, offer reasons for optimism. Luciano Spalletti's team defeated Napoli 2-0 before securing a 2-1 away victory over Dutch side AZ in the Europa League.
Injuries remain a significant concern for the visitors. Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli are unavailable, while Weston McKennie's fitness remains uncertain.
Fiorentina's home record is another worrying factor. The Viola have not won a Serie A match on their own ground since April 13, recording five draws and three defeats in their last eight home league fixtures.
Nevertheless, matches against Juventus carry special significance in Florence.
The roots of this bitter rivalry date back to 1982, when Juventus narrowly beat Fiorentina to the Italian championship amid controversial refereeing decisions on the final day of the season.
Tensions intensified in 1990 when Roberto Baggio, a hero among Fiorentina supporters, joined Juventus in a transfer that sparked widespread protests in Florence.
More recently, the departures of Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic to the Turin club further fuelled resentment between the two sets of supporters.
This history ensures a particularly intense atmosphere whenever the teams meet, and the desire to defeat their traditional rivals could provide Fiorentina with additional motivation.
Despite their injury problems, Juventus enter the contest as favourites. However, for Fiorentina, victory over their bitter rivals could prove a turning point in an otherwise disappointing season.
