Didier Deschamps rejects Manchester United approach over managerial vacancy

Former France national team head coach Didier Deschamps has reportedly turned down the opportunity to take charge of Manchester United.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the Mirror, the English club contacted the 58-year-old French specialist to discuss the possibility of replacing Michael Carrick as manager.

According to the report, Deschamps met several key criteria established by Manchester United's management. His extensive experience at the highest level, impressive achievements and availability without a transfer compensation fee made him an attractive candidate.

However, the Frenchman is not interested in taking over at Old Trafford, as he reportedly does not want to assume the considerable responsibility associated with managing the Premier League club.

Deschamps last worked in club football at Marseille, which he left in 2012. He subsequently took charge of the French national team, leading Les Bleus to victory at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and reaching another World Cup final in Qatar in 2022, where France lost to Argentina on penalties.

The former midfielder also guided France to the UEFA Nations League title in 2021, further strengthening his reputation as one of the most successful international coaches of his generation.

Manchester United, meanwhile, continue to assess their managerial options as they seek a candidate capable of restoring the club's competitiveness at the highest level.
