Portuguese motorcyclist Jorge Brandao has tragically passed away following an accident during the fifth and final stage of the Morocco Rally, reports Idman.Biz, citing Mundo Deportivo.
The incident occurred around Erfoud when Brandao, participating in the rally for the second time, crashed in the dunes at the 214 km mark of the course. He was immediately airlifted by medical helicopter to a hospital in Erfoud, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Brandão, representing the Old Friends Rally Team, was 47 years old. Last year, he made his Dakar Rally debut as a co-driver for Spaniard Carlos Vento, competing in the buggy category.
