Turkish mountaineers commemorated Azerbaijan’s martyrs on the top of Hachadag - PHOTO

A march was organized in connection with the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.

According to the information provided to Idman.biz by the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the march started in the morning from the village of Gal, Julfa district, and the participants covered a distance of 9 km to the top.

Organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Tourism Department and the Nakhchivan Weather and Extreme Sports Federation, 40 people, including professional and amateur climbers, as well as 10 A local extremist joined. In order to ensure the safety of the participants in the difficult terrain and to manage the existing risks, the employees of the relevant state institutions were also involved in the action.

The participants commemorated the victims of the Khojaly massacre and the martyrs of the 44-day Patriotic War at an altitude of 2,415 m - on the top of Hachadag, the national anthems of both countries were sung, and slogans related to Azerbaijan-Turkiye brotherhood and the Khojaly massacre were chanted. After the march, the participants were presented with a certificate of appreciation.

It should be noted that, within the framework of the three-day trip program, the mountaineer groups visited the monuments of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as the founder of the Turkish state, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and got acquainted with the Heydar Aliyev Museum in the city of Nakhchivan. In addition, the guests visited important touristic places of the autonomous republic.
