Azerbaijani UFC fighter Rafael Fiziev has shared his thoughts on his opponents and the upcoming fight against Charles Oliveira.
Fiziev and Oliveira will face off on October 11 at a UFC event in Rio, Idman.biz reports.
The fighter admitted that the hardest strikes he has taken came from Justin Gaethje and Rafael Dos Anjos: “Gaethje painted my face. Dos Anjos also hits very hard, after his punches, I was seeing stars.”
Fiziev also emphasized his own knockout power: “They say Topuria has heavy punches, but he relies on boxing while I’m a kickboxer. I believe I have enough power to knock Oliveira out. I don’t think Charles is the same after the knockout loss to Topuria. Usually, after such defeats, fighters struggle to return to their previous level. In MMA, age and absorbed punches are critical factors.”
The fight with Oliveira will be an opportunity for Fiziev to re-enter the ranks of title contenders in the UFC lightweight division.
