Azerbaijan’s and Gabala Sports Club’s MMA fighter Vugar Karamov told Idman.biz about his upcoming bout in the Rizin tournament. Karamov stated that his main goal in the fight is victory:
“We started training camp a month ago. I’m currently in Dubai. Our training here will continue for three weeks. After that, I’ll return to Baku to cut weight. On June 10, we will head to Japan for the competition.”
Competing in the 66 kg weight class, Karamov said he has thoroughly analyzed his opponent:
“We’ve known for a week who I’ll be facing. During this time, we’ve been watching his fights and analyzing them carefully. My opponent is Shuya Kimura from Japan. He has won all five of his professional fights. He mainly prefers to fight standing up and has won all his bouts within the first minute of the first round. I hope to win this fight and earn a chance to compete for the belt.”
The MMA rules tournament is scheduled to take place on June 14 in Sapporo, Japan. Karamov has recorded 6 wins in 9 fights under the Rizin banner. Overall, the Azerbaijani fighter has 20 wins in 26 professional bouts.
