Surat Garayev: “Roland is strong, but not a dangerous opponent for me”

"My preparation for the fight has been quite good."

Azerbaijani kickboxer Surat Garayev shared this with Idman.biz as he gears up for his next bout in the SENSHI 26 league, Idman.biz reports.

Speaking about the upcoming fight, Garayev said he has done thorough research on his opponent:

“Everything is going well – I’m in shape and injury-free. I’ve been training with the national team, and I’ve also gone through personal and tactical preparations with my coach.”

Set to compete in the 90kg weight class, Garayev emphasized that although he has never faced his opponent before, he knows him well:

“I’ll be fighting Oly Yves Roland from the Ivory Coast, a WAKO World Champion. He has 33 wins and 12 losses. Roland is strong, but I don’t see him as a dangerous rival. There’s also a bit of a weight difference between us. I’ve recently bulked up, yet I’m still lighter than him, which I hope will give me a speed advantage. His strengths are his height and strong kicking technique. But since I come from a boxing background, I expect to have the upper hand when it comes to hand strikes. I’m confident I can come out on top.”

The fight is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
