The World Karate Championship has started in Budapest, Hungary.
According to Idman.biz, the Congress of the World Karate Federation was held before the competition.
Vice-president of Azerbaijan Karate Federation Rahman Hatamov, general secretary Gabil Sayadov and member of the Board of Management Yashar Bashirov also took part in the event. In addition to the current World Championship, discussions were held at the congress about the place where the next world championship will be held. Later, the candidates for the Athletes' Commission elections were announced.
The President of the World Karate Federation, Antonio Espinoza, pointed out that they will work to include karate again in the program of the Summer Olympic Games. It was noted that a record number of 1149 athletes registered for Budapest-2023.
After that, the candidates for the Athletes' Commission elections were announced. It was emphasized that a total of nine karatekas will compete for two places. Irina Zaretska, a member of the Azerbaijani national team, is among them.
At the Congress, the host of the 2025 lndividual World Championship among adults was also determined. The qualifying stage of the competition will be held in Paris, and the finals will be held in Cairo, Egypt.
It should be noted that within the framework of the visit, AKF officials met with the President of the World Karate Federation, Antonio Espinoza, and shared views. A commemorative gift was presented to Antonio Espinoza on behalf of the Federation.
