Judo champion’s victory at the Grand Slam boosts World Ranking

The International Judo Federation (IJF) has updated the world rankings.

This update reflects the results of the Grand Slam tournament held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where the Azerbaijani team won 2 gold and 2 silver medals, Idman.biz reports.

Eljan Hajiyev, who won the gold medal in the 90 kg category, advanced six places and is now ranked 4th in the world. His teammate and final opponent, Vugar Talibov, earned 9 points, climbing to 12th place.

Another gold medalist, Balabay Agayev (60 kg), who was previously ranked 18th in the world, moved up to 12th place.

The silver medalist in the +100 kg category, Dzhamal Gamzatkhanov, climbed 13 spots to reach 28th in the world rankings.

Olympic champions Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelym Kotsoev (100 kg) have maintained their top positions.
