By the decision of the International Judo Federation, the Baku Grand Slam tournament dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev will be held on September 22-24 within the framework of the "World Judo Tour".
According to İdman.biz, Azerbaijan will be represented in the tournament by 33 judokas.
The competition, officially named "Heydar Aliyev Baku Grand Slam 2023", will take place at the National Gymnastics Arena. 479 judokas from 64 countries will compete for medals in the three-day tournament. The national judo team of Azerbaijan will be represented in the competition by 26 male and 7 female athletes in 11 weight classes.
Turan Bayramov (-60 kg), Kamran Suleymanov (-66 kg), Karamat Huseynov Said Mollayi (-81 kg) among our judokas are injured and will not be able to participate in the tournament according to the decision of the medical staff of the national team.
Three times this year, the competitions of the ACF tour among men, which have the character of selection for the Baku Grand Slam tournament, were held. Athletes who took the first place in the rating list formed as a result of these competitions qualified for the Baku Grand Slam tournament.
It should be noted that preliminary meetings are expected to start at 08:00 on September 22, and at 09:00 on September 23 and 24. The final matches will start every day at 16:00.
