Grand Slam: bronze chances for our 3 judokas

The "Grand Slam" judo tournament, held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, has started.

Our four male judokas will wrestle for the bronze medal. Our female athletes stopped fighting early.

Men
60 kg
Turan Bayramov defeated Andrea Carlıno (Italy) in the 1/16 finals, followed by Irakli Kupatadze (Georgia) and qualified for the 1/4 finals. At this stage, our judoka, who lost to the French athlete Richard Vergnes, did not succeed against the local Giorgi Sardalashvili in the consolation match.

Balabay Aghayev qualified for the 1/2 finals by defeating Vijay Kumar Yadav (India) in the 1/16 finals, and over Tsogt-Ochir Byambajac (Mongolia) and Tornike Tsjakadoea (Netherlands) in the following stages, respectively. Unfortunately, he lost to Kazakhstan's Nurkanat Serikbayev on the way to the final. Aghayev will face Sardalashvili, who defeated Bayramov, for the bronze medal.

Ruslan Pashayev, who started the competition from the 1/32 finals, advanced to the 1/4 finals with victories over Gigi Otiashvili (Georgia), Tal Flicker (Israel) and Martin Setz (Germany). He lost to Willian Lima (Brazil) at this stage. In the consolation match, Ravshan Nasriddinov (INA) will challenge Matteo Piras (Italy) for the 3rd place.

Rashad Yelkiyev defeated Uulu Kubanychbek Aybek (Kyrgyzstan), followed by Serdar Rahimov (Turkmenistan) in the 1/16 finals and qualified for the 8 strongest ranks. However, he could not continue the successful streak. Yelkiyev lost to Ivan Chernykh (AIN). Rashad, who won the consolation match against Matej Poliak (Slovakia), will clarify his relationship with Willian Lima (Brazil) for the bronze medal.

Leyla Aliyeva defeated Katharina Tanzer (Austria) in the 1/16 final. She lost the duel with Yuliya Semikolenkova (AIN).

Gultaj Mammadaliyeva stopped the fight in the 1/16 finals. He failed with Binta Ndiaye (Switzerland).

Although Acelya Toprak won over Nino Loladze (Georgia) in the 1/32 final, she lost to Christa Deguchi (Canada).

Fidan Alizada lost to Irina Zueva (AIN) in the 1/16 final.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team is represented by 15 judokas in the tournament, which will end on March 24.
