A fan zone dedicated to the upcoming World Judo Championships in Baku has opened at Deniz Mall shopping centre.
İdman.Biz reports, citing the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, that the initiative is designed to build excitement ahead of the tournament and introduce visitors of all ages to judo.
The fan zone features interactive games for children and adults, judo quizzes, puzzle competitions, and dedicated photo and selfie areas. Participants can win various prizes and receive a specially designed symbolic judo passport.
One of the main attractions is the judogi of Elkhan Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s first world judo champion. The display offers visitors an opportunity to connect with the country’s sporting history.
The programme also includes meetings with well-known judokas and autograph sessions, giving fans the chance to interact with athletes. Similar fan zones will operate at Crescent Mall, 28 Mall and Ganjlik Mall.
The senior World Judo Championships will take place from October 4 to 11 at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. The event will bring together elite judokas from around the world, with Azerbaijan preparing to welcome the international judo community to its capital.
