Under the initiative of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (AJF), Elnur Ismayilov, head coach of the national U-17 girls’ team, successfully completed an international coaching seminar in Japan.
According to Idman.Biz, citing AJF’s press service, the one-month program, organized by the “JUDOs” Public Union, was held at the Kodokan Judo Center in Tokyo and Tokai University.
The seminar included both theoretical and practical modules, providing participants with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of judo training methodologies and Japanese judo traditions. At the Kodokan stage, the focus was on training in nage-no-kata.
At Tokai University, lessons were conducted under the guidance of 8th dan Mitsumoto Kenji. Olympic champion and 7th dan Kosei Inoue, as well as former head coach of the Brazilian national team Yuko Fuji, also participated, offering additional lessons.
Key topics included safe judo rules for beginners, proper organization of training, sports massage techniques, bandaging methods, and physical conditioning. The program also included visits to cultural and historical sites in Japan, including the tomb of judo founder Jigoro Kano, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, and the Japan Olympic Museum.
At the end of the seminar, Elnur Ismayilov received an international certificate. He plans to apply the knowledge and experience gained in Japan to contribute to the development of judo in Azerbaijan and to train a new generation of judokas.
Previously, world medalist and European champion Orkhan Safarov, as well as coach Asiman Allahverdiyev, also successfully completed this program.
