Bahruz Nabiyev, vice-president of the Equestrian Federation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, told Idman.biz.
Nabiyev said that the first World Championship in Chovgan held in Baku was a success. The official of the Federation also announced the time of the next World Cup: "Each of the participants was a polo player. Since polo also originated from a stick, the players knew its philosophy. There were just some rule changes. We have explained them for more than 1 month. This time, 6 nations participated in the tournament. But our goals are to increase the number of teams to cover all continents. We are thinking of organizing the 2nd World Championship of the national chovgan game in September next year. Fans will watch the next competitions with the participation of not 6, but 8, 10, 12, 14 teams. The competition will be held outdoors in September. The number of participants in the games will be 5 instead of 4 in each team. We are planning to hold continental championships and inter-club championships in the not too distant future. Our primary goal is to hold this world championship every year regularly and with the participation of not more than 6 national teams.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan won the World Championship for the first time. The national team defeated Morocco (4:0) in the final.
