The minimum salary in the NHL will rise to $1 million in the 2029/30 season.
This is outlined in the updated collective bargaining agreement that will be in effect from 2026 to 2030, Idman.biz reports.
For the upcoming season, the minimum salary will remain at its current level of $775,000. A gradual increase is planned: $850,000 in 2026/27, $900,000 in 2027/28, $950,000 in 2028/29, and $1,000,000 in 2029/30.
If players are playing under contracts signed at previous minimum salary levels during those seasons, their wages will be raised to match the applicable minimum for that season.
Additionally, the maximum annual salary for entry-level players (excluding performance bonuses) will also increase. Currently, it stands at $975,000. In 2026, it will rise to $1 million, and starting from 2027, a formula will be applied: NHL minimum salary + $175,000. Thus, by the 2029/30 season, the maximum salary will be $1.175 million.
