Azerbaijani national athlete Fidan Gurbanli took fourth place at the World Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
He was one step away from a medal in the final stage with clubs, Idman.biz reports.
Fidan had a chance to win a bronze medal. Since Egyptian Farida Bahnas and Polish Ksenia Zizic shared second place, the Azerbaijani gymnast could logically have entered the top "three". However, the place of the bronze medalist remained empty.
Azerbaijani other gymnast Azada Atakishiyeva performed in the final with hoop and took eighth place.
