Azerbaijan national tumbling team member Tofig Aliyev has reflected on his successful performance in Great Britain, where he claimed two gold medals.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Azerbaijani gymnast said the competition went well for him and highlighted his ability to maintain the lead throughout the event.
"I managed to keep my lead from the qualification round all the way through to the end of the final. The competition was organized at a very high level. That is exactly why we chose to compete at the tournament in England as a test event ahead of the World Championships," Aliyev told AZERTAC.
Assessing his performance, the gymnast also highlighted the support he received from local fans.
"Overall, I was satisfied with my performance. I was especially happy with the great attention and support shown by the British spectators," he added.
Aliyev won two gold medals during his appearances in Great Britain. He first topped the podium at the National Age Group Finals before competing at the British Championships.
In the latter event, the Azerbaijani gymnast scored 29.100 points in the final to secure his second gold medal.
