Araz-Nakhchivan futsal club will test its strength in a friendly match against the Azerbaijan national team as part of preparations for the UEFA Champions League group stage, head coach Yevgeni Kuksevich told Report.
He noted that they want to play this match before traveling to Romania for the tournament: “We want to face the national team before heading to the tournament. Time is limited, so we cannot travel abroad or host other teams. Since October, we have started preparing for both the Azerbaijan Championship and the UEFA Champions League. We even held a three-day training camp. Everything is going according to plan. Right now, all our focus is on the competition.”
The Russian coach also mentioned that he has analyzed their opponents: “I have studied their games and drawn some conclusions. The strengths of the opponents are clear. Each team is capable of competing with us. One of the challenges is that our first game will be against the home team.”
Araz-Nakhchivan will compete in Group VII of the UEFA Champions League main stage alongside United Galati (Romania), Differdange 03 (Luxembourg), and Tigers Roermond (Netherlands). The Azerbaijan representative will play its first group stage match against the Romanian club on October 29.
