Four-time Formula 1 world champion and “Red Bull” driver Max Verstappen has confirmed that he will change his racing number starting from the 2026 season. The 28-year-old Dutchman announced that he will no longer compete under number 33, - reports Idman.Biz
Speaking on Viaplay, Verstappen explained his decision: “It will not be number 33. My favorite number has always been 3, except for number 1. Now we can change it. It will be number 3. Number 33 was also good, but I prefer one 3 over two 3s. I always said it symbolized double happiness, but of course I have already had luck in Formula 1.”
Verstappen raced for most of his Formula 1 career with number 33. After winning the championship, he switched to number 1 as the reigning title holder and continued to use it during the 2025 season.
