Nearly 2,000 volunteers are expected to be involved in the organisation of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which will take place in September.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Arifa Aliyeva, a representative of the Human Resources and Workforce Department of the Baku City Circuit Operations Company, revealed the figures.
According to her, more than 49,000 applications were submitted in just three days after the volunteer programme was launched in April.
Aliyeva noted that more than 20,000 young people have been involved as volunteers in the organisation of Formula 1 races in Baku since 2016. More than 400 of them subsequently joined the event's workforce after successfully completing their volunteer experience.
She also revealed that around 1,550 international volunteer applicants from various countries have gone through online interviews and training stages this year.
The 10th anniversary of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be marked in the final week of September. The 2026 race weekend will take place at the Baku City Circuit on September 24-26.
