The Azerbaijan U-16 national football team played its first match at the 3rd CIS Games held in the country.
Idman.biz, citing AFFA, reports that the team faced Tajikistan’s U-16 side in Group A.
Before the match, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Azerbaijan’s lands. The game, held at Gabala City Stadium, ended with a 1:0 victory for Azerbaijan. Nihat Huseynzada scored the decisive goal in the 29th minute.
The national team will play its next group match on October 1 against Kyrgyzstan.
