Azerbaijan national team captain and midfielder Emin Mahmudov has decided to retire from international football.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) confirmed the decision through its official press service.
According to the federation, the experienced midfielder reached the decision following consultations with AFFA's leadership.
Mahmudov's final appearance for Azerbaijan will come in the international friendly against Andorra on November 16, during the national team's upcoming training camp.
The midfielder has represented Azerbaijan since 2016, establishing himself as one of the team's most influential players and a key figure in the national squad.
During his international career, Mahmudov has scored 15 goals, surpassing the previous national team record held by Gurban Gurbanov to become Azerbaijan's all-time leading goalscorer.
His achievement marks a significant milestone in Azerbaijani football history, with the midfielder leaving the international stage as the country's most prolific national team player.
Azerbaijan will play two matches during the November international window. The team will face Liechtenstein in the UEFA Nations League on November 13 before hosting Andorra in a friendly on November 16.
The match against Andorra will therefore mark the end of Mahmudov's ten-year journey with the national team.
