"Great Ous! Congratulations, very happy for you. You deserve it!" Messi wrote in the comments under Dembele’s post on one of the social media platforms.
Dembele outpaced Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal in the vote, with his PSG teammate Vitinha finishing third.
Messi holds the record for the most Ballon d’Or wins, having claimed the trophy eight times. Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo is second on the list with five victories.
