Dembele wins Ballon d’Or, Bonmati claims women’s award in historic night for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele was named the world’s best player of the season after winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or in Paris.

Idman.biz reports that the 28-year-old Frenchman, who played a key role in PSG’s first-ever Champions League triumph last season, became the sixth French player to claim the award and the first since Karim Benzema in 2022. Dembele finished ahead of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, while PSG teammate Vitinha took third place.

The forward dedicated his award to his teammates, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, coach Luis Enrique, and his family, becoming emotional when thanking his mother. “This is exceptional. PSG is a family, and this trophy is also a collective victory,” Dembele said.

It was a night of triumph for PSG, who were named team of the season, with Luis Enrique voted best coach and Gianluigi Donnarumma awarded the Yashin trophy as best goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati secured her third consecutive women’s Ballon d’Or, and England coach Sarina Wiegman was named women’s coach of the year.
