According to the decision of the AFFA Executive Committee on February 3, a financial incentive mechanism will be applied in the 2025/2026 season for clubs participating in the Misli Premier League based on the participation of local players in matches.
According to the decision, the bonus fund will be formed from fees paid for foreign players listed on the squad sheets of clubs participating in the Misli Premier League, Idman.biz reports.
Under the new rule, a certain portion of the funds from foreign player fees (minimum 1,000,000 AZN) will be distributed among the clubs competing in the Misli Premier League. Additionally, the club whose local players accumulate the most points during the season (taking coefficients into account) will receive an extra reward of 50,000 AZN from the total amount.
The total minutes played by local players in each club will be calculated according to their percentage share of the total minutes played by local players across all Misli Premier League clubs.
For matches in the Misli Premier League, a local player will be assigned a coefficient of 1.0, a local player aged 21 or younger will receive a coefficient of 1.5, and a homegrown player (a player who has consistently played at least 3 seasons in the club’s youth or reserve teams before joining the first team) will receive a coefficient of 2.0.
Calculations will cover only the standard 90 minutes of match time. For players who enter during added time, only 1 minute will be counted. If a player qualifies for multiple categories, their minutes will be counted using the highest applicable coefficient.
