Liverpool to honour Diogo Jota with emotional tribute at Anfield

Liverpool will pay tribute to former forward Diogo Jota during Friday’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth at Anfield. Jota, 28, tragically died in a car crash in northern Spain last month alongside his brother, André Silva, 25.

Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that a moment of silence will be observed across all Premier League matches this weekend, with players wearing black armbands and images shown on stadium screens. At Anfield, fans will unveil a special mosaic in the Kop and Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand during the silence. Manager Arne Slot said the club will ensure Jota’s family, expected to attend, “always have our love and support.”

Liverpool players will wear a “Forever 20” emblem on shirts and jackets all season. The club retired Jota’s No. 20 shirt, which he wore during their title-winning campaign, after consulting with his family. Former club Wolves will also honour him in their opener against Manchester City.
