La Liga team captains have demanded clarification regarding the matches scheduled to be held in the USA.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has sent an inquiry to UEFA about holding the 17th round La Liga match between Barcelona and Villarreal in Miami, Idman.biz reports.
The match is planned for December 20.
According to Mundo Deportivo, none of the La Liga captains were informed about these plans. While the players are not opposed to changing the match venue, they have requested detailed information. Their main concerns include: Why was the Villarreal vs. Barcelona match chosen? How many matches are planned to be held abroad in the future?
Additionally, the players have inquired whether the terms of the cooperation agreement are being respected. For instance, Article 8 requires a maximum 72-hour preparation camp before away matches (including travel time).
Article 9 states that players must have at least 1.5 days of weekly rest, with at least 1 full day uninterrupted.
The captains have also requested information on topics such as the weather conditions in Miami at the time of the match, medical and legal insurance issues, and the television revenue generated from matches held abroad.
If these issues are not clarified, the players may oppose holding the match in the USA and, more broadly, La Liga matches being played outside the country.
