Manchester City's defensive midfielder Rodri has not yet decided on his future.
Idman.biz, citing AS, reports that the "Citizens" plan to offer the 29-year-old a new contract in the coming days.
Sources say the English club is aware that Spain's Real Madrid is showing serious interest in the player and views it as a "real threat." The management and head coach Xabi Alonso of the "Royal Club" understand that there is currently no defensive midfielder of Rodri’s level available in the transfer market.
Meanwhile, Manchester City is preparing to offer Rodri a contract extension until 2029. This deal could make him the highest-paid midfielder in Europe.
Rodri has been with Manchester City since the summer of 2019. During this period, he has played 265 matches in all competitions, scored 26 goals, and provided 32 assists. His current contract is valid until the summer of 2027. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is 110 million euros.
Rodri, who suffered a serious injury again during the Club World Cup match against Al-Hilal on July 1, has already started training.
