Porto secretly organized Luuk de Jong’s medical check-up to prevent early leak of transfer news.
Former Sevilla and Barcelona striker Luuk de Jong joined the Portuguese club as a free agent after leaving PSV, Idman.biz reports.
Porto officially announced the transfer on Sunday, the same day the player's presentation took place.
According to “O Jogo”, Porto began negotiations with de Jong a week before the official announcement and decided to keep the transfer as confidential as possible. To minimize the risk of leaks, de Jong’s medical check-up was carried out under the pretense of being for a new handball team player. Additionally, the player’s luggage at the airport was picked up by his agent.
Up until just an hour before de Jong’s presentation as a Porto player, only the club management was aware of the transfer.
