Interview with Araz-Nakhchivan defender Bakhtiyar Hasanalizada for Futbolinfo.az
– By defeating Aris 2-1 in the first leg of the Conference League second qualifying round, you surprised everyone in a good way. Did you expect to send the Greeks home defeated?
– We knew it would be a tough game. We prepared seriously for the match. We wanted to achieve a favorable result in the first leg. Thank God, we succeeded. Maybe the score could have been better. But this result is also normal for the first game.
– Based on the first match, who do you consider the most dangerous player in the opponent’s squad?
– Almost all players in the opponent’s squad are strong. That’s why I don’t want to single anyone out.
– The referee’s performance was heavily criticized in the match. What is your opinion about the referee’s decisions?
– The referee made some wrong decisions during the match. But it’s hard to say there was bias. He showed yellow cards to most of our players. Despite everything, we won. That’s the main thing. Hopefully, we will continue with a successful result in the second leg.
– What are your expectations for the return match against Aris? Will you be able to maintain the advantage gained in the first game in Greece?
– I think the second match will be more difficult. The result from the game in Baku doesn’t give us a big advantage. So, instead of just defending the score, we need to continue playing our game.
– You have formed a defensive tandem with Igor Ribeiro for a long time. Will his transfer to Neftchi disappoint you?
– We would have liked Igor to stay in the team. But some things are beyond our control.
– Which of the new transfers do you think has strengthened the team the most?
– Our new transfers have adapted to the team and are trying to be helpful. I would say everyone is doing their best.
– Is the current Araz-Nakhchivan strong enough to fight for the championship in the new Premier League season?
– I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about that. Right now, all our focus is on the second leg against Aris. We want to advance. We will think about the championship later.
