Brazil have secured their place in the final of the Women’s Copa America after a dominant 5-1 win over Uruguay in the semi-finals on Tuesday. Amanda Gutierres led the charge with two goals, including a stunning free kick in the second half.
Idman.biz, citing Reuters, reports that the defending champions started strong, with Gutierres opening the scoring in the 11th minute via a header from a Marta cross. Just two minutes later, Gio Garbelini added a second, capitalizing on a loose ball. Marta extended the lead to 3-0 with a 27th-minute penalty — her first goal of the tournament.
Uruguay briefly responded after halftime when Isa Haas scored an own goal, but Gutierres quickly restored the three-goal cushion with her second of the match.
With this win, Brazil advances to Saturday’s final where they will face Colombia in a repeat of the 2022 decider. “It is my first final. We’re working hard to win that trophy,” said the 24-year-old Gutierres.
