Donald Trump receives Cristiano Ronaldo signed Portugal jersey at G7 Summit

During the recent Group Seven summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta, European Council President Antonio Costa presented U.S. President Donald Trump with a special gift — a Portugal national team jersey signed by football legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Costa, who has been serving as the European Council president since 2024, arrived in Canada on Monday and took part in a private meeting with Trump, Idman.biz reports.

During their encounter, Costa handed over the iconic No. 7 jersey signed by Ronaldo, accompanied by a heartfelt message: “To President Donald J. Trump, Playing for Peace.”

Trump, 79, accepted the gift warmly, holding the jersey with both hands and expressing his appreciation: “I like it, playing for peace.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and all-time leading scorer in men’s international football with 138 goals, recently led Portugal to victory in the UEFA Nations League. Now 40 years old, the Al Nassr forward is anticipated to represent Portugal in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, scheduled to take place next year across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

This unique gift symbolizes a message of unity and peace amid the international summit’s discussions and highlights the global appeal of football as a bridge between cultures and nations.
