Newcastle supporters caused damage at a bar following their team’s defeat to Sunderland in the Matchday 16 clash of the English Premier League.
According to Idman.Biz, fans broke tables and threw chairs. The incident was reportedly sparked by a confrontation with a Sunderland supporter inside the venue.
The match took place on December 14 at the Stadium of Light and ended in a 1–0 victory for the hosts. The only goal of the game secured the win for the Black Cats.
The rivalry between Newcastle and Sunderland dates back more than a century. Matches between the two clubs are traditionally known as the Tyne–Wear derby and are also referred to as the North East derby.
As of now, Newcastle sit 12th in the Premier League standings, while Sunderland are seventh.
