Two scandals and a place on the transfer list: Tottenham ready to part ways with Yves Bissouma

Tottenham have decided to place midfielder Yves Bissouma on the transfer list following a second scandal in just over a year linked to the use of nitrous oxide, Idman.Biz reports.

The future of the 29-year-old footballer at the London club is now in serious doubt, with the club’s management no longer viewing him as a key player.

Bissouma has lost the trust of head coach Thomas Frank and has not played a single official minute since his appointment. The situation worsened after new video footage emerged, allegedly showing another incident involving the use of the banned substance. The club has confirmed that an internal investigation is underway.

This is not the first such episode in the Malian’s career. In early 2023, then-head coach Ange Postecoglou suspended Bissouma for one match following a similar incident. At the time, the player issued a public apology, admitting a serious mistake and stressing his responsibility as a professional and a role model.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that possession of nitrous oxide for recreational use is a criminal offense in the United Kingdom and can carry serious consequences. Tottenham are concerned about both reputational damage and potential financial losses.

Bissouma’s contract expires next summer. The club are considering activating a one-year extension clause, but their main goal is to sell the player during the winter transfer window. Tottenham paid around £25 million to Brighton for him in 2022 and are keen to avoid losing the midfielder for free.

Interest in Bissouma remains outside England. According to sources, Nice and Marseille are monitoring the situation, as is Turkish side Fenerbahce, who had previously explored a move for the player. In the Premier League, Everton and West Ham had shown interest, but a move abroad is currently seen as the most likely outcome.
