Real Madrid abandons plans to sign Manchester City’s Rodri

Manchester City midfielder Rodri is no longer a transfer target for Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have decided against signing the 29-year-old.

According to Idman.Biz, citing El Nacional, the decision is based on several key factors.

The main reasons include the player’s high transfer fee, his age, and frequent injury issues. It is noted that the Spanish midfielder has not fully recovered or regained optimal fitness following a knee ACL tear sustained in September of last year, and the injury’s consequences continue to affect his consistency.

Instead of Rodri, Real Madrid has shifted attention to two other candidates, considering their transfers more promising. The club is now interested in Adam Wharton of England’s Crystal Palace and Kees Smith of Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Real Madrid’s management views these young players as potential long-term reinforcements.

This season, Rodri has appeared in eight matches for Manchester City but has not recorded any goals or assists.
