Former Manchester City and New York Red Bulls striker Bradley Wright-Phillips believes Erling Haaland is on track to become the greatest goalscorer in football history, surpassing Harry Kane, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Idman.Biz reports that speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Wright-Phillips highlighted Haaland’s extraordinary consistency in front of goal, noting that the 25-year-old has scored 333 goals for club and country, including 143 for City and 55 for Norway.
Haaland, he said, is “unbelievable” and “relentless,” with an innate desire to score that sets him apart from others. Wright-Phillips praised the Norwegian for not just finding the net, but also improving his all-round game, including link-up and hold-up play. While he acknowledged Harry Kane as the best all-round striker, he argued Haaland is the ultimate goalscorer.
However, Wright-Phillips clarified that scoring alone doesn’t make Haaland the world’s best. In his view, Lionel Messi, with his artistry, vision, and overall style, still holds that title, proving that greatness is measured not only by goals but by the complete footballing package.
Haaland’s scoring feats, combined with his ambition and improved all-around play, underline why he is regarded as a generational striker capable of rewriting football history.
