UEFA has held a series of meetings with representatives of Game Over Israel to discuss potential conditions under which Israel could be suspended from international tournaments.
According to Idman.Biz citing The Athletic, these discussions have been ongoing since late September, following calls from several national football associations to put the question of Israel’s participation to a vote.
UEFA is not looking to unilaterally suspend Israel, fearing conflicts with other sporting bodies, but is closely monitoring legal proceedings in Ireland and Switzerland that could theoretically require the union to act under international law.
One key meeting took place on October 15 at UEFA’s headquarters. In the same week, West Midlands Police banned fans of Tel Aviv’s "Maccabi" from traveling to the match against "Aston Villa" for safety reasons. Sources indicate that following this, UEFA asked activists to provide human rights expert reports for consideration in the decision-making process.
