Argentine forward Lionel Messi of Inter Miami has expressed his desire to play in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, reports Idman.Biz.
“I would like to be in shape and play an important role for the national team. I am very excited because it’s the World Cup. We won the last tournament, and it would be great to defend the title,” Messi told Mundo Deportivo.
Messi is the reigning World Cup champion, having helped Argentina secure victory over France in the 2022 final in Qatar.
The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, marking the first time the tournament will be hosted by three countries simultaneously.
