Qarabag defender Sami Mmae has been handed a one-match suspension following a disciplinary incident in the reserve league, Idman.Biz reports.
The decision was confirmed after a meeting of the disciplinary committee, which reviewed the events during Qarabag-2’s match against Sabah-2. Mmae was shown a second yellow card in the 43rd minute for protesting the referee’s decision, resulting in his dismissal.
As part of the sanctions, the player will miss one game, while Qarabag-2 have been fined 250 manat. The punishment adds to a difficult period for the defender, whose conduct has already drawn internal consequences at the club.
Head coach Qurban Qurbanov has previously removed Mmae from the first-team squad due to disciplinary issues, underlining the seriousness of the situation.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by Azerbaijani football authorities to enforce discipline across all levels of competition, including reserve leagues, as clubs aim to maintain professional standards.
