Spanish club Oviedo has dismissed 48-year-old Serbian head coach Veljko Paunovic. His assistants have also left the team, Idman.Biz reports.
In a statement, the club thanked Paunovic and his coaching staff: "Under his leadership, the team earned promotion to La Liga – a historic achievement that fans will remember. We wish him success in his future career."
Oviedo’s new head coach is 46-year-old Spaniard Luis Carrion, who left his previous club Las Palmas on October 8, 2024.
Paunovic was appointed Oviedo’s head coach in March this year and led the team back to La Liga after 24 years in Segunda. However, the current season has started poorly, with Oviedo losing 6 of 8 matches and earning only 6 points, leaving them 17th in the La Liga standings.
